Oakhamian Hockey stars selected for England squads

Well done to Becca (Form 6) and Tilly (Form 4) who have been selected as members of the England National Age Group (NAGS) Hockey U18 and U16 squads respectively.

Both girls were invited to attend the England assessment camps for their respective age groups following their outstanding performances for the U17 and U16 Pennine Pumas teams at the Futures Cup Competition. The girls’ impressive hockey skills then saw them qualify for the England teams.

Director of Hockey, Mr James Bateman, said, “I am absolutely delighted with the girls’ achievement and am so proud of them. This is a fabulous opportunity for them to realise their potential and continue their development alongside the best junior players in the country.”

The girls will now join the squads for their first training weekend on 24 November.

Oakham has an excellent record of pupils joining the England Hockey Player Pathway programme, and the girls will be following in the footsteps of Old Oakhamians and England Hockey players Matt Ramshaw, Ali Eatch, Maddie Pearce, Lucas Ward and Alice Huddlestone.
