Oakham to host Knossington and Somerby Pre-School fundraising art exhibition

Children from Knossington and Somerby Pre-School will be exhibiting their artwork this weekend in an effort to raise funds for their nursery.

Despite only being aged 2-4 their works of art will be hung and displayed in the wonderful Wheelhouse Gallery at Oakham School - just like many other local and national artists who have also exhibited their work there!
The children will be selling their artwork to raise funds for the Knossington and Somerby Pre-School, which is a charity run organisation managed by a committee of volunteers.

Old Oakhamian Becky Haley (17), an art student at Loughborough university, who won the student portrait prize at the Leicester Society of Artists' exhibition whilst in her last year at Oakham School, will be supporting and speaking at the event.

“We are delighted to be able to exhibit the children’s work in our own gallery.” says Teacher of Art Mrs Ann Nelson. “It will mean that members of the Schools and the public will be able to enjoy their work and to support their fundraising. We are also looking forward to seeing Becky again and are grateful to her for supporting this charitable event.”

Visitors are welcome to see the children’s collection and buy their work at the Wheelhouse Gallery, which can be accessed off Kilburn Road before Oakham School Sports Hall, on Sunday 8 July from 10.30am-11.30am.
