Oakham students participate in Clay Shooting Challenge

Students from Oakham school recently participated in the School Challenge Clay Shooting Competition at The Oxford Gun Company in Oakley, Buckinghamshire.

The School Challenge is the largest young shots' organisation in the UK. It has become increasingly popular and this year saw a record number of entries, with 25 teams taking part.

Oakham pupils enjoyed some good individual successes with Danniella taking 5th place in the Prep Individual category (25 hits), and Julia placing 7th in the Senior Individual category (38 hits).

Overall, the Senior A Team, captained by Tom, placed 10th (198 hits), and the Senior B Team, captained by Ben, placed 14th (183 hits)

Teacher of Business and Economics Mr Derrick Purnell, who organised the trip said, “the students performed excellently, especially as they have not had the same amount of practice or training as many of the other teams. It has been great to see their enthusiasm for this sport grow as a result of this experience.”
