A student from Oakham School has made his debut appearance in the Senior Leicester Tigers team, aged only 18.
Cameron, who is a Leicester Tigers England Academy player, made the move into the Senior team for the final Anglo-Welsh Cup pool fixture against Wasps in Coventry.
It was particularly poignant for members of the Oakham School community given that, in this debut match, Cameron was captained by Old Oakhamian, Matt Smith!
Oakham’s Director of Coaching and former Leicester Tigers coach and player, Ian Smith says “ This was a fantastic opportunity for Cameron to take a step-up from academy rugby.”
Two of his School teammates, Sam and Jack, are also in the Academy programme – which has seen many Old Oakhamians such as Charlie Walker and Alex Goode successfully selected and rise through its ranks. Indeed, Hamish Watson, who also benefited from this Academy programme, is set to represent Scotland in their match against France this weekend.
