Five girls from Oakham School have been chosen to represent the Midlands Squad U18 after recently taking part in the Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) trials!
Fabrice Vie, the Midlands Coach, commented “It has been really difficult to select a squad this year, as the quality of players keeps improving year after year. I believe it is mainly down to the training and coaching they are receiving at school.”
The girls selected are Elly (4th Form), Emilia (6th Form), Carlotta (7th Form), Flora (6th Form) and Isobel (6th Form).
4th Former Elly already plays for Leicester City Women U16s and 6th Former Isobel, plays for Leicester City Women, Ireland and the ISFA National Representative team.
The girls will attend extra training sessions on Sundays, including a practice match against Nottingham Forest as a warm up for the Regional Final, which takes place at Harrow on Sunday 12 March. The Midlands Squad are the reigning champions of this competition, having been victors over the past two years.
“Girls' Football continues to go from strength to strength," says Oakham’s Girls Football coach, Robert Johnson. "It's excellent news to see more of our school players secure their places in the Midlands squad. They have all made excellent progress in their training and it's fantastic that both their efforts and talents have been recognised. The girls are all now ready, and excited to have the chance to perform at a higher level".
