Oakham School Rugby season update

Oakham’s rugby teams have seen a strong run this season with some excellent performances.

The 1st XV have had great wins against Uppingham (19-12), Stamford (28-27), Loughborough Grammar (56-5), Stowe (36-17) and Oundle (17-15). A highlight of the season up to now has been the match against Lindisfarne College, New Zealand (31-26) where there was some fantastic rugby on display.

The U16As have also been in fine form winning 6 out of their 8 games, including wins over Uppingham School (60-0) and Oundle (19-0) among others.

The U15As have won 7 of their 11 matches and the U14As have won 7 of their 9 matches.

Director of Rugby Mr Andy Rice said, “I am pleased with the way the rugby season is going so far. Everyone is working hard and making good progress.”

Charlie (Form 6), Sam and Jack (both in Form 7) have also been playing for the Leicester Tigers U18 Academy Squad, a Premiership Rugby Academy dedicated to the coaching, conditioning and education of potential elite rugby players. Oakham sees many of its players chosen to play for Premiership Rugby Academies - with some going on to win professional contracts and represent their country at full international level - cementing our position as a leading rugby school.
