Before our IB Diploma students head off on exam leave, they enjoyed an evening of celebration and awards. This special event, held annually, recognises achievement within the IB Diploma programme. It takes place in addition to Oakham’s Speech Day due to the earlier IB Diploma exam timetable.
Both the Headmaster and the Head of Upper School addressed the audience of students, teachers and tutors. The event was rounded off by excellent speeches from students Toby and Vittoria.
A series of prizes were awarded for individual effort and performance in specific subjects, as well as recognising other elements of the IB Diploma course such as CAS and the Extended Essay.
This year, it was notable that a number of students were, impressively, awarded two prizes:
Mathilda (English and French)
Emily (Maths and Chemistry)
Morgan (Music and Classical Greek)
Harry (German and Environmental Systems and Societies)
Sahil (Economics and Business Management)
Xavier (Italian and Philosophy)
Isobel (Sports, Exercise & Health Science and Theory of Knowledge)
Isabelle ( Visual Arts and Extended Essay)
Klaudius won the Commandeur Prize for Outstanding International Male Student and the equivalent prize for girls, the Klohe Prize, was awarded to Emily.
All of Oakham's Seventh Form IB Diploma students will now turn their minds to preparing for their final exams which will be sat during May – the sixteenth cohort to do this at Oakham.
