Last weekend 10 Oakham pupils played in the orchestra for Nevill Holt Opera’s superb Noye’s Fludde (Noah’s Flood) production.
Nevill Holt Opera is an arts festival held at the end of June and beginning of July set in the grounds of Nevill Holt Hall, Leicestershire. Noye’s Fludde by Benjamin Britten is an outstanding piece of British operatic work involving the whole community in musical performance and it was a closing highlight of the festival.
The students performed alongside some of the UK’s leading operatic professionals, including top international opera singer Jonathan Lemalu, who sang the role of Mr Noah.Their spectacular performance was enjoyed by everyone and they received incredible feedback.
Public performances are fundamental to Music at Oakham and this was a great opportunity for the students to experience the challenges, excitements and rewards of performing live music and opera of the highest possible quality.
