Fifth and sixth formers at Oakham, together with students from the local area, recently attended a highly successful university fair organised by Oakham School’s Careers Department. A record number of 24 top universities from around the UK participated in the event, which also included talks about league tables, choosing a course and applying to Oxbridge.
The fair was an invaluable opportunity for students to meet face-to-face with representatives from a variety of universities to enquire about relevant courses, entrance requirements, fees and accommodation.
Mrs Helen Elliot, Careers Administrator said, “This is the first time that we have held a University Fair that is separate to our annual Careers Fair and it has proved to be a very popular move. The representatives welcomed any questions and the students were able to gain an insight into degree programmes, university life and application processes. There were also plenty of resources for them to take away and read in their own time.”
Oakham School’s Careers Department offers specialist advice and support to its students when they are preparing for university and this event adds to this guidance.
