Congratulations to Oakham’s Girls Football 1st XI who have been crowned the ISFA Midlands League Champions.
The girls kicked off their season by recording impressive wins against Welbeck College and Repton. They then continued their winning streak and remained unbeaten throughout the rest of their matches, scoring a high proportion of goals per game.
Coach, Rob Johnson said of the girls’ League success: “It was a true squad effort with members of the team juggling other sporting commitments, and non-team members offering to help cover any girls that were absent. It is this positivity and resilience at Oakham that never fails to amaze me. During the matches they showed a high level of attacking skill as well as an excellent level of ball mastery and fully deserve this achievement.
The Girls Football 1st XI are currently ranked number one in the Schools Sports National Performance League and also took part in the ISFA National Cup in which they reached the semi-final.
