Oakham’s A2 and IB Politics students have been selected by the EU Parliament to represent the UK out of a possible 3,500 schools in the UK at the 2015 Euroscola conference, which covers the full spectrum of the 28 member states of the European Union. Most impressive of all, Oakham’s Politics department has now represented its nation more times than any other EU school.
The students will travel to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France in October half-term. This conference will be attended by 500 school students from across the European Union, getting the opportunity to act and work as a Member of European Parliament for a day. Euroscola is a unique event for schools to learn about European integration by experiencing it first-hand. Oakham students will debate on current European issues like migration, youth employment and the future of Europe. The conference gives students the opportunity to interact and exchange information in a foreign language and also highlights the importance of cross-cultural cooperation.
