Oakham athlete Evan wins Silver at England Championships

Form 5 student Evan continued his incredible season with a fantastic performance at the England Athletics U17 Championships. The competition was held in Bedford on 26 August and attracts the top athletes from around the UK.
Evan was not deterred by the tough competition or adverse weather conditions; he sailed through the rounds before taking home a Silver medal in the final! An impressive performance - particularly considering the small leg injury Evan had picked up earlier in the day.
Following this outstanding achievement, Evan now has three Silver and one Gold medal from his national and international competitions in 2018, making him the only 200m athlete to win a medal at each one of the major U17 Championships so far this year.
Mr Tref Vandoros, Director of Athletics, said of Evan's achievement: "We are so proud of Evan. He has demonstrated great resilience and a consistently high level of performance to achieve such incredible successes this season."
Evan is in competition again this weekend at the School Games in Loughborough, and with nothing more to prove, this really is an event he should enjoy.
