Music For Celebration
Well done to Arthur, Thomas and Joshua for winning the book-themed composition competition launched in collaboration with the Music Department. Their compositions will be performed at the Library’s 25th birthday celebrations on 3 December.
“Pupils had a choice of seven stimuli which ranged from engaging character descriptions through to captivating titles (and a few more in-between)", says Librarian Miss Bernadette O'Hanlon.
The Music Department judged all entries and the three winners of the competition were announced:
• Arthur for his piece inspired by Discovery and the book Journey: An Illustrated History of Travel.
• Thomas for his composition based on the description of Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
• Joshua for his interpretation of the opening sentence to Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell.
We all look forward to the above pieces being performed on the evening of the Library’s Birthday celebrations.
