The new Form 6 IB Diploma students have recently returned from their annual start-of-programme retreat held at Hothorpe Hall, Leicestershire.
IB Diploma Coordinator and Teacher of Maths Mr Vic Russell reports:
“This short residential event aims to give new IB students an opportunity to look more in detail at the skills they will be developing over the course of the next two years. It is also a chance to get to know better other students on their course.
Activities included presentations on the CAS, Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay elements of the Diploma Programme, as well as team-building activities, and an opportunity to develop their own presentational skills.
There were also short presentations from members of the Senior Leadership Team who spoke about their “Passions”; there was an opportunity for students to engage in reflection during a quiet meditation session, and a thought-provoking international film in keeping with the Theory of Knowledge course, which was enjoyed by all.
Students have returned to Oakham ready to embrace the exciting challenges of the IB Diploma that lie ahead.”
