Oakham’s youngest Drama scholars and special invitees performed in Oakham’s first Middle School Scholars’ Production.
Three of Anton Chekhov’s one-act masterpieces; “The Bear, The Proposal, and A Jubilee” were presented to enthusiastic and rapturous houses.
Audiences from within the school and from the public were not only impressed with the quality and maturity of the acting on display, but were surprised by the immediacy and applicability of these enduring works to our modern times.
Director of Drama, Gilly Norell commented, “These are not at all easy pieces to pull off, and to produce such accomplished performances bodes very well for the future of Theatre at Oakham”.
Scholars' Productions are always very popular at Oakham School and previous shows, which were all performed by the Drama Scholars in Forms 6 and 7, include Five Women Wearing the Same Dress (2018), Playhouse Creatures (2017) and By the Bog of Cats (2016).
