A group of pupils have travelled to the Austrian Alps to enjoy some skiing at the ski resort of Zell am See before Christmas. For more photographs, see the gallery. Read the latest updates below:
The journey went without a hitch with everyone getting a few hours sleep. The ski fitting was excellent and was sorted quickly. We are all impressed with the hotel. It has its own sports complex with two full sized beach volleyball courts, trampolines, a bowling alley, basketball courts, amazing high ropes course and one of the best indoor climbing facilities I have seen.
Most of the ski instructors are British and the teaching is first class. All of the runs are open with reasonable snow and everyone seems to have had a great first day.
In the evening we went to an ice hockey match which was exceptionally noisy allowing everyone to let off steam.
The weather was not so good today but the snow is still great. The off-piste group went to nearby Kaprun to sample its delights. The remainder explored Zell am See. We are still hoping for fresh snow but it does not look too promising.
For evening entertainment, the pupils split into three groups and had a go at trampolining, beach volleyball, bowling and high ropes. They all looked to be having a wonderful time.
Skiing Update 21 December 2016
Wall to wall sunshine today and excellent snow, which made a terrific day's skiing.
The off piste team skied some great powder and found another snow cave to explore. All are skiing well and Guido their guide has been impressed by how focused they have been today.
The beginner group has now advanced from the nursery slopes and is "ripping up" the piste on the mountain, exploring far and wide.
It has been fantastic seeing how well everyone is skiing, although some could listen a little more to their instructors.
We're hoping for some more sunshine tomorrow to top up the tan before returning home for Christmas.
