Lower School pupils enjoy French stories

On Monday lunchtime for a peaceful hour Lower 1 and Form 1 pupils enjoyed a session of French stories in the Smallbone Library. The books, all of which were authentic titles for children and published in France for young readers were enjoyed and easily understood by all, much to the surprise of some of the audience. Pupils found that the pictures helped, not to mention familiarity with some of the stories, notably “La Chenille Qui Fait Des Trous” - The Very Hungry Caterpillar for Anglophones. This should encourage the first form to try some of the many foreign language readers and graphic novels available in the library junior stock.

The hour of stories ended with a traditional brioche and was much enjoyed by all. Many thanks to the French Department and particularly to Mrs Breag and Dr Summers who organised the event.
