Our Lower One pupils visited the Warning Zone in Leicester this week for the third year running to learn about staying safe and especially e-safety.
Alison Petit, Teacher of Lower One & English tells us more:
“The Warning Zone combines vital messages on personal safety and online safety which helps to prepare youngsters for increased independence and their transition into early adolescence. Each room at the centre presents a different scenario, including electricity and building sites, road safety etc., and the children are given practical advice about identifying risks.”
During the trip, the Sherriff of Rutland presented our pupils with a certificate of attendance from the charity, the Windmill House Trust, in support of their visit.
Lower School pupil Edward said, “I really enjoyed the Warning Zone, in particular the interactive exhibits that taught you about later life.”
This is one of many well-being activities that Oakham offers as part of its exceptional pastoral care and is excellent preparation for our innovative Body and Mind Programme in the Middle School.
