Findlay, Form 3, gave a beautiful and impressive 'cello recital, with music by Bach, Casalsand Saint-Saëns.
Findlay opened his recital with two unaccompanied movements from Bach' Suite No. 3 in C, BWV 1009. The slow and stately Sarabande contrasted nicely with the faster Bourrée, really showing off Findlay's versatility and bravery right from the start. Findlay demonstrated the versaility of the 'cello with the rich and inviting chords in the Sarabande, and the energetic and lively nature of the Bourrée.
Following this, we heard a mesmersizing performance of Casals' Song of the Birds. Findlay executed the beautiful phrases and challenging harmonics with great precision and musicality which clearly resonated with the audience, judging by the extended pause after the piece.
Findaly concluded his recital with a bold and characterful performance of Allegro appassionato, op. 43 by Saint-Saëns.
Congratulations Finlday on a fantastic recital.
