IB Prize Giving evening
Form 7 IB students, teachers and tutors gathered to celebrate success in the IB Diploma and to congratulate those students awarded prizes for individual effort.
This special event, held annually, recognises achievement within the IB programme. Prizes are awarded for performance in specific subjects as well as other elements of the IB course such as Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) and the Extended Essay.
Of particular note this year were Lily who won three prizes (History, Environmental Systems and Theory of Knowledge) and Moritz who won the Commandeur Prize for Outstanding International Male Student. The equivalent prize for girls, the Klohe Prize, was awarded to Carlotta.
Both the Headmaster and the Head of Upper School addressed the audience and the event was rounded off by excellent speeches from students Joe and Jemima.
The IB Prize Giving evening takes place in addition to Oakham’s Speech Day because the IB exams are held much earlier and, therefore, some students would not be able to attend. Students will now turn their minds to preparing for their final exams which will be sat during May – the fifteenth cohort to do this at Oakham.
