House Singing Competition 2018

Students gathered in the Chapel for the much anticipated annual Boarding House Singing Competition last Sunday. Houses were given a long list of songs from which to choose, and their choices ranged from ‘We are the Champions’ by Queen, ‘Angels’ by Robbie Williams and ‘I’m Still Standing' by Elton John.  Staff were not permitted to assist the boarders since the song choices were released at the start of the week, and so all the preparations were left in the hands of the students.

The houses are to be congratulated on putting so much time and effort practising over the week, and the pupils who directed, arranged and sang solos deserve particular praise.

At the end of the evening, the best boys’ house was judged to be Chapmans, who sang a heartfelt performance of ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ by Journey. The best girls’ house was Buchanans, whose performance of Ed Sheehan’s ‘Perfect’ featured terrific solo singing, great harmonies and wonderful engagement from the entire house.
