Hockey Success Continues!

Following on from the girls’ recent victories, the boys are also celebrating successes with the U18 and U16 Boys’ squads through to the Regional Finals.

With both of the boys’ teams remaining undefeated in the qualifying rounds, they are indeed worthy of their places in this next stage of the competition.

The U16 team played superbly during their tournament and claimed the county title after beating Ashby (5-2) and Beauchamp (4-1).

The U18 players also dominated their matches with strong performances against Wellbeck DSFC (9-0), Uppingham (5-0), Leicester Grammar (7-0) and Beauchamp (4-2).

These impressive results add to those set by the U18 team, who competed in the Independent School Festival last weekend with wins against Millfield (4-3), Whitgift (3-0) and Ipswich (4-3).

James Bateman, Director of Hockey said “The final scores are a testament of the hard work and effort by the boys, who showed fantastic passing, shooting and attacking skills throughout the tournaments.”

Oakham’s hockey players’ winning ways are an inspiration to the younger players coming through the school, who are working hard to follow the same exceptional standard set by the senior players.
