Geographers research tourism

Geographers set out in force and visited Stratford upon Avon or Cambridge to find out how tourism affects these two well known destinations.

Pupils worked in teams to collect data on their chosen area of study. This included assessing traffic and pedestrian data, using sound meters to look at noise levels and carrying out questionnaires to gauge opinion from local residents.

With plenty of facts and figures now in-hand from their field trip, the pupils now return to School to analyse their data and answer their research question.

Teacher of Geography, Mrs Helen Foster said, “Geography is the ideal subject for inquisitive teenagers and at Oakham it is a popular subject. It appeals to those who question everything in our ever changing world. Developing inquiring skills stand the pupils in good stead for studying a wide range of subjects to a higher level far beyond IGCSE.”
