Form 7 student Sam performs strongly in U20 Rugby World Cup

Form 7 student and Wales U20s Rugby star Sam, continues to perform strongly at the World Rugby U20 Championship held in Argentina.

Sam’s tutor, Mr Vic Russell, updates us with his progress:

“After a win over Argentina but a loss to France, Wales played Fiji last Wednesday. Sam started the match at inside centre and looked good with some ferocious tackling and lots of probing kicks behind the Fijian defence. Scrum half, Daffyd Buckland, had to go off in the second half and Sam showed his versatility by moving up to take his position. Fiji were tough opponents and every time Wales scored, Fiji seemed to come right back at them. Wales withstood the onslaught though and came out worthy winners by 44 – 28.

Moving beyond the group stage, Wales then went on to beat New Zealand (8-7) in a dramatic match, which included a suspension of play due to an approaching storm and Sam coming off the pitch due to a mouth injury following a collision.  Wales now play England in the fifth-place play-off, to be held on Saturday, kick-off 2.30pm, coverage on S4C from 2.15"
