Director of Art, Mrs Elinor Brass, tells us more:
“Form 3 students visited the impressive Imperial War Museum North, hosted in an imposing building designed by architect Daniel Liebskind. There was a chance for them to study the collection and to watch a moving film about the impact of war on different generations. After lunch we walked across MediaCityUk to the Lowry Cultural Centre to make the most of the excellent collection and to take part in an afternoon workshop exploring drawing.
The trip provided inspiration for our pupils’ creative projects made on their return to School during a day of workshops held in the Art Department. The students worked with textiles, paint, print or in 3D. Images by Lowry and of the Manchester skyline made their way into the exciting art that they produced, culminating in an excellent exhibition in the Smallbone Library.”
