Form 1 pupils experience Diwali in Leicester
13 November 2015
First Form pupils enjoyed a night out to Leicester this week to celebrate the Hindu festival of Diwali. Diwali celebrates the triumph of good over evil and is supported by the traditional story of the Ramayana.
Pupils joined in the festivities on Belgrave Road, visiting exhibitions, watching traditional India dances, eating popular Indian sweets and even starting their own small street party. Leicester’s celebrations are one of the biggest outside of India, so we are extremely fortunate to have such a large cultural gathering on our doorstep.
In Religion, the First Form are currently studying Hinduism, and in English they are working on creative writing pieces about light; hopefully their trip to Diwali will have inspired them!
