English students enjoy visit from award-winning playwright
16 October 2015
Sixth Form English Literature students had the fantastic opportunity to hear from award-winning playwright Ben Brown, a tutor at the University of Oxford who has written extensively for theatre, film and television.
Ben is the author of Larkin With Women (winner of the TMA Best New Play Award in 2000), and was therefore able to share lots of interesting insights with students, who are studying Philip Larkin’s poetry as one of their A-level texts. The class prepared lots of thought-provoking questions for Ben, such as “Where did you draw the line between truth and fiction in your play?” and “How can you explain the apparent contradictions between his verse and his life?”. The students will be able to use his answers and quote from him in their A-level exams, in due course.
