Oakham School’s Duesbury Society recently welcomed Dr Nicholas Morton, a history lecturer at Nottingham Trent University and specialist in the history of crusading and the Medieval Mediterranean between the tenth and thirteenth centuries.
Teacher of History Mr Robert Evans reports:
“Dr Nicholas Morton gave a highly informative talk to Form 7 comparing the causes of the First and Third Crusades.
The talk comes at a time when Form 7 A-level historians are planning their coursework essays, so has left them with lots of inspiring ideas and themes to explore further through their own research.
Dr Morton also brought along copies of his latest book, Field of Blood: the battle for Aleppo and the remaking of the Medieval Middle East, which provides an easy introduction to the early crusades and the formation of the crusader states.”
