On Wednesday 25 September, we were treated to an impressive lunchtime recital from Jessica flute, Rupert oboe and Becky piano. They played a challenging recital which was centred on Madeleine Dring’s Trio for flute, oboe and piano.
They prefaced the Dring Trio with the atmospheric Elegiac Nocturne movement from Thomas Pitfield's Trio for oboe, flute and piano. The melodic lines were played beautifully by the oboe and flute, which were accompanied sensitively on the piano.
The Dring trio followed in three movments; Allegro con brio, Andante semplice, Allegro giocoso. All provided different technical challenges which were overcome with great skill by the trio. A special mention must go to Becky in the final movement who seemed to have an astonishing amount of notes to play! All in all, a really exciting lunchtime recital for everyone to enjoy.
