D of E Canoeing Pre-Practice Expedition
Undaunted by the 'Beast from the East', the Form 4 DofE Bronze canoeists have recently returned from an afternoon's pre-practice canoeing expedition on the River Nene at Wansford.
This last training session before their Practice Expedition on the River Soar saw the pupils canoe in very cold, blustery conditions, practising paddle technique and teamwork. They also worked on consistently keeping to one side of the waterway to avoid hazards as well as pulling out and putting back in at portage points.
They were on the water for about 45 minutes and returned to the minibus afterwards for big cups of hot chocolate.
Mr Henry Deane, Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Canoeing Leader said, “It was a very successful pre-practice expedition and everyone is now looking forward to the Practice Expedition later this month on the River Soar.”
