BTEC Business students recently visited Cadbury World as part of their BTEC Exploring Business programme.
The students attended an engaging lecture and learnt about the business model for Mondelez International, the parent company of the Cadbury brand, as well as gaining an insight into their marketing strategy.
They looked at the impact of the famous Cadbury Gorilla advertising campaign, reviewed the Roses “Thank you very much” adverts and reflected on other past campaigns that targeted specific market segments.
They also explored the company’s history by taking part in the exhibition tour and learnt how it became the success story it is today.
Mr Jeremy Rowe, Head of Business said “This trip was highly relevant to the students as Mondelez is being used as a case study in their BTEC Level 3 Unit 1 programme. It was also great for them to have the chance to sample some of the delicious aspects of the organisation!”
Oakham launched the BTEC National Level 3 Business course this academic year to compliment A Level Business and IB Business. This is the second BTEC on offer to students at Oakham, alongside Sports Science.
"The BTEC National Level 3 Business course is an incredibly well regarded qualification for students, which sits very nicely alongside our A Level and IB courses," says Director of Studies, David Harrow. "It provides those students who are looking to pursue a career in Business with a more practically-focused course."
This new BTEC Business course is housed in Oakham's new Social Sciences Faculty - which is an inspiring environment perfectly suited the high levels of discourse, debate and team discussions that take place in this subject.
