Oakham’s boarders have had a fun-filled first weekend of the new school year, taking part in all sorts of activities and trips.
Lower School boarders enjoyed a spot of raft-building and other water-based activities at the nearby Rutland Watersports Centre.
Chapmans’ boys had an active first weekend. After a house barbecue on Saturday evening, followed by a heated game of Bingo, they visited Planet Bounce in Corby for a bit of mega-trampolining.
On Saturday, Buchanans’ girls enjoyed fun games organised by the new prefect team, while on Sunday they took part in team-building and problem-solving activities. Form 3 also treated the House to some home baking.
Round House and School House had barbecues on Friday and enjoyed some garden games. Then on Saturday evening it was time to get dressed up for the annual Headmaster’s dinner! The guest of honour was Mr Ben Walsgrove OO, who gave an engaging after dinner speech on his life and career after Oakham, and how it has been strongly influenced by the friends he made at School.
Mrs Celina Traill, Houseparent of Lower School said, “The first weekend of House life was a fantastic start to the year and a great taster of exciting times ahead.”
