Boys 1st VI through to National Indoor Hockey Finals

Congratulations to the U18 boys 1st VI who have qualified for the National Indoor Hockey Finals for the 6th time in 9 years.

The boys made a clean sweep of their initial rounds at the Regional Indoor hockey tournament winning a 4-2 victory against Trent. This was followed by comfortable wins against Worksop (4-0) and Warwick (4-0) which saw them progress to the top of the Pool.

In the Semi-Finals the boys continued their strong performance beating Rugby (1-0) to book their place in the National Finals in January.

Mr James Bateman, Director of Hockey said, “I am so proud of the boys. They have come a long way since the start of term. There is still lots to learn but with the upcoming New Year pre-season training tour in Barcelona and a National Final competition, it’s going to be an exciting few months.”

Oakham’s Hockey success follows last year’s appearance in the Indoor and Outdoor National Finals with the U18 boys teams being placed second in the Country. These outstanding results emphasise the quality of the sport that is being taught and played at the School.
