Lower One have set off on their annual residential trip to Lea Green Development Centre near Matlock in Derbyshire. While enjoying the stunning countryside of the Peak District, they will test themselves as individuals and as a team with a range of outdoor adventures. The pupils are being accompanied by Teacher of Lower One Mrs Petit, who will send trip updates. Photos of the trip can also be found in the gallery.

On day 3 we stayed in the centre and headed for the high ropes. The Lower Ones were not daunted and amazed us all with their bravery and determination.
They also used their problem solving skills on the low ropes challenge but then finally had to head for the minibuses for the journey home.
Lower Ones were true Oakhamians throughout the trip. They met each challenge with an open mind and determined spirit and not only met own personal challenges but also supported their fellow Oakhamians to keep going and do their best.

Lower One continued their adventures today after a hearty breakfast.
They hiked up the hills and then made their way down through a network of rhododendron root tunnels known as “the jungle”.
When they got back to Lea Green they packed up a picnic and headed off for the river Derwent for an afternoon of paddle boarding where as much time was spent in the water as out of it!
They finished off the day with a camp fire to toast their marshmallows and tested out their own fire making skills.
Finally off to bed ready for their last day tomorrow.

Lower One have arrived at Lea Green in Derbyshire for their annual residential trip to build independence and challenge themselves beyond the classroom. Their first activity was archery and this was followed by a picnic lunch in the beautiful sunshine. They then headed off into the Derbyshire countryside for a stream walk with a few added challenges.
