Biology students win Silver and Bronze Awards in the 2019 Biology Olympiad

Congratulations to Form 7 student Loewe for winning a Silver Award, as well as Amir and Nikhil for winning Bronze Awards in the 2019 Biology Olympiad.

Well done also to Amy (Form 7), who received a high commendation as well as Alex and Douglas (Form 7), who both received commendations from the Olympiad Association.

The competition was taken by more than 9,400 students all over the world, with over 720 Schools taking part and consisted of two, 45-minute multiple choice papers taken online. The test was designed to assess the students’ knowledge of Biology while hopefully encouraging them to continue studying the biosciences beyond School.

Head of Biology, Dr Patricia Ingles, said, “We are so proud of their achievements. The students have performed extremely well in what is a rigorous competition, competing with their peers from across the world.”

Oakham School’s Biology Department is a well-resourced and vibrant learning environment, within which teachers use a combination of exciting teaching methods and academic rigour to teach innovative courses.
