Barrow and Wharflands tie for Steeplechase trophy

Oakham’s annual interhouse Steeplechase saw an overall tie for first place between Barrow and Wharflands with Barrow winning both the Junior and Senior races and Wharflands winning the Inters race.

Nearly 300 boys took part in the event, which took place in the grounds at Oakham School.  The distance of the Junior race was 3.2km and the Inter and Senior races were 4.8km.

Despite tough weather conditions, there were some excellent performances giving a really competitive edge to the race.

Assistant Director of Sport (Boys), Mr Trefon Vandoros, said, “Congratulations to all the runners. I am very proud of their efforts. They showed strong camaraderie and teamwork to help each other over the line and it was also great to see such fantastic support from the sidelines. A remarkable afternoon of House Spirit.”
