A record-breaking year for Oakham's athletes!

Oakham’s athletes go from strength to strength – breaking school records, as well as racking up a variety of podium finishes in meets across the county, region and country!

Lower School athletes took their place at the National Prep Schools Athletics Championships held at Bedford Stadium alongside 900 athletes from schools across the country.  As well as winning four Golds, a Silver and four Bronze medals, 10 pupils earned their places in the National Finals in Birmingham, representing the East Area Team.

Athletes also enjoyed a ‘haul’ of medals at the County Championships held at Saffron Lane in Leicester.  They returned to Oakham with an impressive 31 medals in total, of which 13 were Gold. Two students, Chloe and Simi, were double Gold winners, as they won 200m and 100m respectively, as well as being a part of the Gold winning relay team together with Scarlett and Sophie. Following their performances, three Oakhamians qualified for the Nationals at Birmingham – Izzy, Luke and Evan.

Sports Day, at both the Lower School and the Middle & Upper School were memorable events – not only for their House cheer, but for the variety of School records being broken across a range of disciplines.  Most notably was the 20 year old 4 x 100 record which was broken by the Lincoln House team consisting of Riya, Sofia, Alice and Simi.  Sofia, in Form 1, enjoyed a ‘run’ of record-breaking success - breaking an impressive 4 records in total!
