Lewis Moody pays tribute to Oakham as new OO President
Rugby legend Lewis Moody is the new President of the Old Oakhamian Club.
The recently retired England captain says he has a lot to thank his former school for "I owe Oakham School so much, my years at the school taught me everything I needed to become a man and that is why I have the greatest affection for my former school. It's also why I want to give back as much as I can and I am delighted to be the new President of the OO Club.”
Headmaster Nigel Lashbrook is delighted with Moody’s appointment “Lewis is a great supporter of his old school and I look forward to working with him as President of the Old Oakhamian Club."
OO Chairman Jon Wills says Moody had no hesitation in accepting the offer of becoming OO President for 2011-12 “In many ways this did not come as a surprise to me for Lewis has, throughout his busy rugby career, displayed such loyalty to Oakham returning to coach as and when the opportunity to do so has arisen and he considers his Oakham School friends to be amongst the closest he has. I know I speak for so many OOs when I say we are greatly honoured to have such a fine sportsman and tremendous character as our President for the next year.”
