Roland CAMM plotterAn Invitation to Creativity

The Arts have a strong tradition at Oakham that embraces both excellence and enthusiasm, professionalism and participation. Indeed, we believe the Arts are integral to our pupils' broader education. In drama, House theatre productions sit alongside Edinburgh festival plays; in music, virtuoso musicians play concerts one day and novices take to the stage the next; and in art, degree-standard exhibitions run while newcomers explore the joys of ceramic sculpture, paint or jewellery.

Pupils are encouraged to try new things - and they do. Diverse drama productions are staged throughout the year in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. There are numerous choirs, orchestras and bands, as well as high quality instrumental, singing and theory tuition. And there is a range of workshops and studios for art and design, which cater for an unusually wide choice of specialist studies. In all artistic pursuits, pupils of all ages are encouraged to work together, often older ones pass on their knowledge and experience.

The School takes great pride in both the accessibility of its Arts to enthusiastic pupils and also the outstanding arts programme that features output of remarkable maturity and professionalism.
