Josh Cobb (OO) named as England Hong Kong Sixes Captain
Old Oakhamian Leicestershire CC batsman Josh Cobb (08) has been named as captain of the England squad for the Hong Kong Sixes.
Josh got the news yesterday when he was called into the squad for the tournament in Hong Kong on 27-28 October. The annual six-a-side tournament at the Kowloon Cricket Club, brings together top cricketers from around the world and has been the launch pad for many successful international careers.
Cobb had a successful spell in charge of Leicestershire last season, where he was unbeaten in all LV=CC and CB40 games that he took charge of.
The batsman was part of the squad that lost to Abdul Razzaq's Pakistan side in the Final last year so they will be hoping to go one better this time. England will bid to become the most successful nation in the history of the tournament by winning it for an unprecedented sixth time. Oakham Director of Sport, Iain Simpson, said that” it is just reward for an excellent past couple of years for Josh and it is remarkable that Oakham can boast this captaincy as well as Stuart Broad’s leadership of the England T20 team, soon to be in action in the World Cup. The tournament is a showcase for some of the world’s up and coming all rounders and we will continue to follow Josh’s career with great interest over the next few years.”
