Prestigious scholarship awarded to Oakham students

At a ceremony held at the Institution of Engineering & Technology, Savoy Place London, on 30th October 2009, Alice Kent and Thomas Shelbourn were awarded a prestigious Arkwright Scholarship for their outstanding work in design & technology.

Tom’s Scholarship is sponsored by Lloyds Register Educational Trust and was presented by Professor Sir John O’Reilly, Vice Chancellor, Cranfield University and past President of The IET. Alice’s award is sponsored by The Industrial Careers Foundation and will be presented at school later this term.

Scholars are selected following a rigorous selection process comprising an application, Arkwright Aptitude Paper and interview. During the interview students presented their GCSE project work to a panel of interviewers and discussed their commitment to design, engineering and technology.
