Top marks for Oakham’s GCSE pupils

Pupils at Oakham have achieved excellent GCSE results today with nearly a third of all exam entries achieving the top A* grade.
More than 65% of exams have been marked A*/A and a quarter of all Oakham pupils have achieved straight A*/A’s in this summer’s exams.
Five Oakhamians have each achieved an outstanding 10 A* grades. They are Imogen Leaning, Misha Knight, Isabel Guy, Tristan Abraham and George Fox. Another 14 students are celebrating after being awarded 8 or more A*grades.
Headmaster Nigel Lashbrook says pupils deserve praise for all their hard work "I am delighted that the success of recent years has continued with another excellent set of GCSE results. It is particularly pleasing to see a third of all examination entries being awarded the A* grade and this has happened in a year when, for the first time, all of the core GCSE subjects have followed the more academically rigorous IGCSE specifications. I congratulate all of the students and their teachers for their commitment and well deserved success."
