IB6 Launde Abbey retreat
27 September 2012
On Monday, 24th September, 55 IB students made their way to Launde Abbey in Leicestershire for the annual IB retreat. The two-day retreat, filled with lectures and activities based around getting to know each other, key habits for successful time management, learning, revision and communication, kept the students and the teachers busy enough to almost forget the pouring rain! The charm of the Abbey was somewhat lost to us all, as we were running from building to building trying to stay dry. It did not, however, dampen the spirits of the new IB cohort, a mix of students from our school and students new to the Sixth Form with an undoubtedly international flair. Friendships were formed and many interactive activities enabled everyone to learn to work in teams and as a big team. The first evening was rounded off by a French film and a wonderfully peaceful evening meditation in the medieval chapel. IB6 students should now be ready to reflect on how their learning needs to adapt to the new challenge of the Upper School and feel equipped to make changes, should they need to. Yet another great start to the adventure which is the IB Diploma Programme!
