What is special about Oakham School?

I became an Oakhamian in Lower One when I joined Jerwoods as a boarder. My family live in Rutland, however they were overseas. Almost straight away I got involved in everything that was going on and it’s this busy lifestyle as an Oakhamian that makes the school special.

What are your favourite Oakham moments?

My favourite moments have been playing sport for Oakham. The sport here at Oakham School is great and it is still improving. We’ve got experienced coaching staff and we’ve all got that everlasting Oakham desire to win.

What has been your biggest achievement here at Oakham?

Representing the school in the 1st XV or the 1st XI is always one of the great privileges and I have been lucky enough to play Rugby for the 1st XV at inside centre and I have represented the 1st XI in both Cricket and Hockey.

What new things have you had a chance to do at Oakham?

There is so much to do at Oakham and there is such a great variety of opportunities and experiences, you have to be willing to try new things all the time.

Which teachers at Oakham have inspired you the most?

During my time at Oakham I have always been pushed as well as supported to succeed and do my best, both academically and in sport. The strength and depth in Academic Departments is down to the staff who are full of enthusiasm for their subject and who want to offer support and guidance when you need it.

What are your plans after Oakham?

I’m planning a gap year as I want to travel to South America – but it’ll be kept short as a friend & I are planning on taking a show to Edinburgh!

What would you say to a pupil thinking of coming to Oakham?

My advice would be to join in. The busy lifestyle of an Oakhamian is underpinned by the Oakham ethos. It is a great school and I have loved all my 7 years here. Our relationship with the community is very strong and Oakham School takes pride in its close links with the local community.
