Oakham Scholarships, Exhibitions and Bursaries
Oakham School has a tradition of recognising and rewarding students with the potential to reach the highest standards in many areas of human endeavour. We aim to nurture talent and to develop each scholar’s full potential both inside and outside the classroom.
Scholarship examinations, interviews and auditions help us to identify pupils with outstanding ability, and to give them access to an Oakham education regardless of means.
Scholarships are offered at 11+, 13+ or 16+
Details of scholarships and availability by age are on the Awards and Guidelines page.
Oakham School Scholarships and exhibitions reward both achievement and potential. We aim to:
- identify pupils with outstanding talent
- give them access to an Oakham education regardless of means
- nurture that talent throughout each scholar’s time here
How much is a scholarship worth?
In line with most schools, we concentrate on directing funds where need is greatest, so our scholarships carry a nominal fee reduction of 10% for an Academic scholarship and 5% for all other awards.
Can my child apply for more than one scholarship?
It is possible to apply for more than one scholarship, but the aggregate value of any scholarship(s) awarded will not exceed 10%.
What if we still cannot afford an Oakham education?
You may apply for further means-tested fee assistance, which in cases of proven need, could be up to 100%. You will need to complete a financial circumstances form.
How many scholarships does Oakham offer?
We do not set a limit on the number of awards we may make from the funds available. We aim to set a consistent standard so that the quality of candidates and level of financial support required determines the number of awards made in any year.
Can I apply for funding for non-scholarship entry?
We may very occasionally provide financial support for non-scholarship entrants.
Honorary Awards
From time to time we also award Honorary Scholarships. These recognise achievement in exactly the same way as other awards, but carry no financial benefit.
