Upper School
The focus in the Upper School is on ensuring that pupils maintain a breadth of activities. There is also much more flexibility, as Sixth and Seventh Form students are entrusted to make choices that suit them, their interests and their aspirations.
Service Options
Many pupils continue with the Combined Cadet Force, others continue with the Duke of Edinburgh Award, working towards the Gold Award. Pupils without the Silver Award may join as direct entrants and are given information regarding this during induction. Others prefer to join and contribute to the Community Service programme. Students new to the Sixth Form may participate in any of these options, with the exception of joining the Combined Cadet Force.
Other Activities
As well as, or instead of the Service Option, students can take part in a variety of Upper School-only activities, such as:
 |
Engineering Education Scheme – work with real companies on real engineering projects. This activity has been very popular and also very successful. The school has recently won a National Science Engineering Competition and a recent project has just been taken up for development and patented by BAE Systems.
