Combined Cadet Force
Welcome to Oakham School CCF. Now in our 102nd Year, we are a well established and well-balanced Contingent responsible for the training and development of some 140 cadets across both ARMY and RAF sections.
Our affiliation to the Royal Anglian Regiment and to the local RAF stations in the East Midlands enable us to provide resources, facilities and, above all, expertise to all levels of cadets.
Membership of the CCF, one of the three main Service options at Oakham, seeks to develop those qualities of teamwork, leadership, self-reliance, resourcefulness and responsibility. Working through the 4th and 5th forms to complete basic courses to Corporal level, the 6th form programme offers additional opportunities through direct Gold entry to the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award and the BTEC in Public Service.
CCF parades on Monday afternoons outside our purpose-built HQ which incorporates an indoor 30-metre range, and 3 day Service weekends take place in October and March. In the Summer holidays cadets attend a week-long camp and some complete their D of E expeditions. Throughout the year, cadets take up places offered by the military in a wide range of activities and skills, often for the simple price of accommodation and messing. |
