Careers and Higher Education

The Careers and Higher Education Department in the Smallbone Library is an invaluable resource containing a comprehensive reference library including information on careers, higher and further education in the UK and abroad, gap years and finance (including scholarships).

Three members of staff have specific responsibility for careers, each with a range of interests and experience. A Careers Administrator is available to help at all times during the school day and can always arrange for students to see other members of the careers team.

There is also information on the Intranet with links to useful sites, specialised information and support material for the various programmes run by the department. This is accessible from all PCs on the school network and by all current parents via the school's website.

Specialist programmes

All students in Years 10 to 12 follow a programme that provides them with the research skills and professional help needed to arrive at sensible decisions about their immediate futures. Along with year group tutors, careers staff provide teaching and assistance much of this within the school timetable. The school supports work-based education.
